Job Opening: Water Treatment Plant Operator Assistant (Entry Level)

About the Plant:
The Carter Lake Filter Plant is a drinking water treatment facility located near Carter Lake in Berthoud, Colorado. The Plant provides drinking water to several communities along the Front Range. Water treatment plant operators provide a valuable service to the community by ensuring the uninterrupted supply of clean and safe drinking water through diligent operations and maintenance of the facilities.
Job Position:
This position assists the lead shift operator with treatment plant duties including monitoring of treatment plant processes, flows, and water quality, keeping detailed records of plant operations, and maintaining plant security. This position will also be responsible for driving company vehicles, maintaining the buildings, grounds, and equipment, assisting with receiving chemical deliveries, general housekeeping, and other duties as assigned.
Work Shifts:
Upon hire, the applicant will begin work on the Weekday Day Shift. Operators work a schedule which rotates from weekdays to weekends every four months, including some holidays. Overtime is occasionally required. Operators generally work four consecutive 10-hour shifts per week. The shift schedules are: Day Shift, Evening Shift, and Overnight Shift. Shift time priorities are based upon seniority. An additional pay benefit of $2 per hour is offered for overnight shifts.
Hiring Pay Ranges:
Pay ranges are based upon experience, level of certification, and job performance, listed below.
Class D Water Treatment - $26 - $28 hourly
Class C Water Treatment - $28 - $30 hourly
Non-Certified: $22.88 - $25 hourly
Benefits:

A retirement package is available to employees who have completed 1 year of service. The Plant also offers reimbursement for the successful passing of certification exams, for approved training courses and reference materials, and a clothing allowance.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Certification: Applicant must possess a State of Colorado Class D or Class C Water Treatment Operator certificate or be willing to obtain a Class D certification within 6 months of employment.
Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license. Driving record must be clear of major moving violations in the last 5 years.
Applicant must be able to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly. Other physical requirements include climbing ladders, working in basins and confined spaces, mowing weeds, and some storage tank work.
